Edith "Hope" Clevenger, 77 of Excelsior Springs, passed away April 18, 2007 at the KU Medical Center. Hope was born on Oct. 3, 1929 in Avondale, the daughter of Samuel Arthur and Clara Mae (Creason) Still.
She was married on Nov. 22, 1947 to Clarence E. "Gene" Clevenger.
She was a member of the Eastern Star.
She was of the Assembly of God Denomination.
Hope is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Clarence E. "Gene" Clevenger, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Brand and her husband, Eddie of Excelsior Springs, MO; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick Clevenger and his wife, Goshetta of Excelsior Springs, MO; and David Clevenger and his wife, Kathy of Excelsior Springs, MO; four sisters, Viola Clevenger of Excelsior Springs, MO; Virginia Johnson of Pleasant Valley, MO; Margaret Harrison of Plattsburg, MO; and Mary Shelor of Stover, MO; one sister-in-law, Alice Still; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one special friend, considered family, Robert Pliler.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Jake and one sister, Lottie.
The family will receive friends from April 22, 2007 at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs. Friends may call anytime Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be April 23, 2007 at the Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs, MO. Burial will be in the North New Garden Cemetery in Excelsior Springs, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
