Reading - Francis "Frank" Barry died peacefully in his residence on August 29, 2018 following 96 years of a wonderful life. He was born in Worcester, son of Francis and Catherine (Bolton) Barry and had resided in Reading since 1958. He was married to the late Jane E. (Mahoney) Barry for 51 years.

Frank graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute as an Electrical Engineer with the class of 1944. Upon graduation he served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Philippine Islands in World War II. Following the war he began a 35 year career with the telephone company as an equipment and project engineer.

Frank and Jane enjoyed golf and traveling and upon retiring wintered for many years in Palm Springs, CA. Frank was a veritable wealth of knowledge in almost any field and possessed a quick and warm sense of humor. For the last two and a half years he lived at the Residence at Pearl Street, the former Pearl Street School where his wife had taught for eighteen years. There he readily engaged with residents and staff within the residential community and was active right up to his death.

Besides his parents and his wife, Frank was predeceased by brothers John, Joseph, James, and Thomas and by sisters Mary Fitzgerald and Catherine Barry. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York.
