Born on December 10, 1947, in Chicago, IL to John and Martha Nemanich, Janis was a beacon of compassion and care for her family, friends, and community.

Janis grew up in Chicago alongside her brothers, John and Warren Nemanich. Her strong sense of care and compassion for others led her to pursue a career in nursing. She devoted 35 years of her life to the noble profession, bringing comfort and solace to countless patients at Lake Forest Hospital. Despite the challenges of her vocation, Janis always wore a smile, her heart full of love for those she served. On November 25, 1967, Janis married her soulmate, John Lucadello, at the beautiful St. Anthony's Church in Chicago, IL. Their union was a testament to true love, enduring for 56 blissful years. Together, they raised three children: Heather Thiel, Traci Lucadello, and Scott Lucadello, who is married to Julia Martin. Janis was a loving mother, always supportive and nurturing, instilling in her children the values of kindness, love, and generosity. Janis was a proud grandmother to Logan and Lily Grikis, Paden Hairrell, who is married to Justine, Dylan Thiel, Sawyer Thiel, and Matthew Thiel. She also had the joy of being a great-grandmother to Henry, Anna Mae, and Edith. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. A woman of deep faith, Janis was very active in her church. She graciously volunteered at The Villa Desiderata Retreat House and participated in church readings, luncheons, and activities. She was also blessed with the opportunity to serve as a nurse to three priests, a role she undertook with humility and devotion. Her faith was a guiding light in her life, inspiring her to live with kindness and generosity. Janis had a deep love for nature, evident in her avid interest in gardening and bird watching. Her garden was a testament to her patience and nurturing spirit, blooming with a myriad of colors each season. She also found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like collecting antiques, each piece a cherished memory.

Janis will always be remembered for her loving, selfless, and generous spirit. She was a woman who loved unconditionally, gave generously, and lived her life with purpose and passion. Her legacy of love and service will continue to inspire her family and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
