Louise Mock "Lucy" Minshew, 84, died Tuesday (November 28, 2023) afternoon at Senior Care Center in St. Mary's, GA.

She was born in Waycross to the late George Lee Mock and the late Grace Louise Roberson Mock. She attained her specialist degree in education from Valdosta State University and worked as an educator with the Ware County School System for 30 years. She was a member of Waresboro United Methodist Church.

She never met a stranger and had a heart of gold. She loved talking with family and friends and always told the best stories, and enjoyed being a dog owner. Mrs. Lucy liked thrifting and shopping, appreciated a good plate of catfish, and enjoyed impromptu trips, especially to the beach. She loved her family well and worshiped and served God throughout her life. It was a life well lived! May we all strive to be a little more like sweet Mrs. Lucy.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John R. Minshew; her first husband, David H. Just; two siblings, Carolyn Aldridge and Johnny "Pete" Mock; and a son in law, Steve Holcomb.

She is survived by a daughter, Susan Holcomb of St. Mary's, GA; a son, Ronny D. Just (Kim) of Athens, GA; four grandchildren, Meghan Lindsay (John), Matthew Just (Erin), Kathryn Jackson, and Amy Holcomb; three great grandchildren, Felicity Just, August Just, and Fielding Lindsay; a sister, Sandy Baisden (Johnny); two step children, Robin Minshew and Anna Minshew; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday (December 1, 2023) in the Music Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be receiving friends starting at 10:00 AM. Memorialization will be by cremation.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016, or https://www.kidney.org.
