A daughter of Capt. John and Mary (Quigley) Brady. ~ Unmarried.

In a sketch written in the Daily News, June 15, 1946, Pg. 4, Albert M. Rung, Juniata Valley Historian, tells the story of Captain John Brady and his wife, Mary Quigley-Brady. The young family moved into the Woodcock Valley about 1760 to 1762 and lived on then Vineyard Creek in today's Smithfield Township on Crooked Creek. During the 'Indian troubles,' Captain Brady moved the family across the Juniata River to Fort Standing Stone in Huntingdon. While at the fort, Mary gave birth to twins Hugh and Jane Brady on the 29th of July 1768.

At the outbreak of the Revolution, Capt. Brady was assigned to service on the West Branch Valley of the Susquehanna River, and the Brady family moved to Fort Augusta in Sunbury, Northumberland Co. —American-Historysmith.

Note--Brady Township, Huntingdon Co. was created from Henderson Township on April 25, 1846. It is named after Jane's twin brother, Hugh Brady, a Brigadier General in the United States Army. He was given the honor before his death.
