Mabel M. Compton, 88, of Lake Ariel, died Thursday at the Julia Ribaudo Nursing Home, Lake Ariel, after a lengthy illness. She was the widow of Wayne Compton who died in 1977.

Born in South Canaan, daughter of the late Denton and Lizzie Bronson Bell, she resided in Madisonville before moving to Lake Ariel in 1973. She was a member of the Hamlin Assembly of God.

Surviving are two sons; Rexford and Wayne Jr. of Lake Ariel, a daughter; Loretta Spangenberg of Lake Ariel, 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two sisters; Lila Burdick of Lewisville New Jersey and Telshaw Endicott of New York, and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sons; Denver, Laverne, and Clifford, two brothers; George and Roy, and four sisters; Cora, Amy, Jessie, and Laura.

The funeral will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the James H. Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel, with services by the Rev. Gordon White, Pastor of the Hamlin Assembly of God. Interment in East Canaan Cemetery, South Canaan.
