1ST SGT US MARINE CORPS

WWII

KOREA

Curtin, A.V. 'Aud', 100, Passed away in his sleep at a memory care facility on 29 Oct 2023. He was born 5 Nov 1922, the 3rd of 14 children, to James and Edith Curtin in Marshfield Wisconsin. He joined the Marine Corp in 1941 and served in WWII and Korea eventually retiring in 1963. On Feb 12, 1949 he married Marion Bussen and they remained married until her death in 1996.

Along the way, they had 5 children. After retiring from the Marines, they settled in Burnsville and Curt worked at Northwest Airlines for the next 20+ years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. On summer weekends, he could often be found at Lake Marion catching sunfish, usually at sunrise with sleepy daughters along. During the fall it was hunting deer or rabbits with his sons. He also spent time collecting baseball cards and coins and doing leather work, making belts and wallets for friends and family.

A farmer at heart, he usually had a garden and was always available to help others with theirs. After Marion's death he moved back to Marshfield where he reforested part of the old family farm by planting thousands of pine trees which he spent time caring for every day. He always looked forward to being with family and especially enjoyed time with his brother. They could often be found at the coffee shop or cutting wood somewhere. He is predeceased by most of his family and friends, including his son Tim.

He is survived by two of his sisters and 4 of his children. He leaves 10 grandchildren,14 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His ashes will be interred with his wife on Feb 12, 2024 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego CA.
