Doris was born on January 5, 1936 to Embert and Agnes (Hafner) Davis. She attended grade school in rural Mooreton and graduated from Wyndmere High School in 1953.

On October 23, 1954, Doris was united in marriage to Joseph E. Foertsch at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Mooreton, ND. Together they raised seven children on a farm in rural Wyndmere until Joe's untimely death on June 15, 1963. She resided at numerous locations near Wyndmere, ND, with her seven children. During the fall of 1965, she and her children moved to Hankinson where she was employed at St. Gerard's Hospital as a nurses aide working very hard to provide for her small children.

In 1967, Doris met William Riemann, Jr., who had three sons of his own. They were united in marriage at St. Phillip's Catholic Church on February 20, 1971.

In May of 1972, Bill and Doris welcomed a son, William Jason, to join their other ten children.

Doris and Bill farmed south of Hankinson where they continued to raise their family. During this time, Doris was a farm wife and home health care aide.

On October 13, 2003, Bill suddenly passed away. After Bill's death, Doris moved back to Hankinson and resided there until her death.

Doris enjoyed gardening, going to the casino with her sisters, visiting with friends, and trips with her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were the joy of her life.
