Earl Irwin Babington, 94, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Sunday, December 3, 2023, at his home.
Born Monday, November 18, 1929 in Boonsboro, MD, he was the son of the late Oscar B. Babington and the late Mary F. (Morgan) Babington. He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Emma Babington.
Earl was employed with J.B. Ferguson and later retired from R.F. Kline Construction of Frederick, MD after many years of service. He was veteran of the Korean-War serving in the U.S. Air Force. Earl was a member of Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211in Funkstown and a 70 year member of Clopper-Michael American Legion Post 10 in Boonsboro, MD and the Korean War Veterans Assn. Antietam Chapter 312. Earl was a master woodworker and also enjoyed photography, boating, waterskiing, flying and most recently golf.
He is survived by his daughter, Vennie Sue Scally and husband Lou, step daughter, Jean N. Hose and husband Terry, step son, Vernon W. Paden, granddaughter, Jessica A. Licari and husband Jason, great granddaughter, Catherine A. Licari, and four step grandchildren and nine step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Donald A. Babington.
Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
Private interment will be at the Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, Hagerstown, MD.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Hagerstown Aviation Museum 18450 Showalter Drive, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
