D'Elda Mae Erickson, 95, Gunder, Iowa, died Saturday December 2, 2023 at the Elkader Care Center, Elkader, Iowa. She was born on May 9, 1928 to Arthur and Esther (Lenth) Palas in Luana, Iowa. D'Elda graduated from Luana High School in 1945. She also attended the University of Dubuque for two years, majoring in music and graduated from Luther College in 1970 with a BA in education.

D'Elda was united in marriage with Alvin Erickson on June 29, 1949 at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa. To this union two children, Matt and Gayle, were born. She was a farmer/homemaker most of her life. She also worked at the Luana Savings Bank and as a substitute teacher in many area schools. D'Elda was a devoted member of the East Clermont Lutheran Church where she was the choir director and a Sunday School teacher for many years. She loved music and was blessed with a beautiful soprano voice. She was an animal and nature lover with a special fascination with wolves. And most of all, D'Elda loved her family and especially her role as "Gramma D'", delighted to share in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

D'Elda is survived by her two children, Matt (Marty) Erickson of Postville; and Gayle Moore of Elgin; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Erickson of Postville, Jon (Jodi) Erickson of Victoria, Minnesota, Amanda (Dave) Majkrzak of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, Jesse (Ashley) Moore of Urbandale, Erin (Liam) Reynolds of Tiffin, Dylan Moore of Coralville, and Dakota (Jordyn) Moore of Decorah; eight great-grandchildren, Brennan, Bonnie and Ben Erickson, Jace Majkrzak, Sophia Kaye-Moore and Scarlett, Jensen and Stella Reynolds; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

D'Elda was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin; her parents and two brothers, Duaine (Doris) Palas and Gerald (Verda) Palas.

Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2023 at East Clermont Lutheran Church, Clermont, Iowa with a visitation from 9 – 11 a.m. before services at the church on Friday. Rev. Ron Roberts will be the Officiant.

Burial will follow at East Clermont Lutheran Cemetery, Clermont, Iowa.
