Online trees show his wife, Flora Caroline Palmer, married to another James W. Reed who died in 1919 in Ohio. Those trees are incorrect. Stone shows James W, death certificate shows middle initial as M, not W.

His parents are Jacob Reed (1799-1873) who died in Uxbridge, Massachusetts and Sarah Sprankle (1815-1860) who also died in Uxbridge, Massachusetts.
