John Albert Bartee passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at 10:18 p.m. at his home in Huntsville, Texas. John Bartee was born on July 18, 1943 in Huntsville, Texas to John Wirty Bartee and Beatrice "Peaches" Holiday Bartee. He was a lifetime resident of Walker County.
He is survived by his wife Sharon Ann Wilson and his five children. Candice Cantrell and husband Donald of Onalaska, Texas, Tammy Lynn Porter of Conroe, Texas, John Spencer Bartee of Onalaska, Texas, Joseph "Jody" Paul Bartee and wife Melania of Onalaska, Texas, Kimberly Lynn Phillips and husband Chris of Huntsville, Texas, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Nieces Sheila Hogue, Michelle Winfrey, and Dawn Bartee, Brother William Donald Bartee and wife Elizabeth, as well as extended family and friends.
John loved spending time with his wife Sharon of 34 years and close family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors and going to his place in Sanderson, Texas, camping and cooking for friends. John never met a stranger and greeted everyone with his awesome smile and blue eyes. He could always be found at the Kettle in the earlier years, and at Café Texan sitting at the table with his friends drinking coffee and telling tall tales. In his last days his was surrounded by his loved ones. John was loved by many and he will be greatly missed.
