Lillian Gough, 87, of River Falls, died April 10, 2006, at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury, Minn.

She was born May 15, 1918, in Detroit, Mich.

Miss Gough earned BA, MA, and PhD degrees at the State University of New York, Buffalo. She joined the UW-River Falls mathematics faculty in 1955 and served as department chairperson from 1956-1979.

Before coming to River Falls she taught high school in New York for five years and was a member of the faculties of the University of Buffalo and Oswego State Teachers college, also in New York.

After retiring in 1963, she did volunteer work at the River Falls Public Library and Area Hospital. She also enjoyed traveling and bird watching.

Miss Gough is survived by her sister, Elsie Hess of Freedom, N.Y.; nephews: Robert Robbins and Eugene Robbins, both of River Falls; niece, Sallie Morgan of Granville, Ill.; and other nieces and nephews.

According to the family, no memorial service is planned.
