Mr. Ronald Delano "Rink" Baker, age 89, of Covington, died Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, Low Moor.

He was the husband of the late Alene Fortune Baker.

Mr. Baker was born July 13, 1934 in Alleghany County, the son of the late William Bruffy Baker and Audrey Bostic Baker. He served his country as a member of the United States Army.

A lifetime resident of this community, Rink was employed as a storekeeper by Westvaco, Inc where he retired after forty years of service. In his spare time, Mr. Baker enjoyed trout fishing, hunting, bowling and golfing. He was a member of the Clifton Forge Elks #1065, and the Covington Moose Lodge #610 L.O.O.M.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Baker was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Christy Long Gibson; three brothers, William Hershel Baker, Omri Lee "Bo" Baker, James Robert "Bobby" Baker and three sisters, Norene Baker Humphries, Louise Baker Shephard and Mary Baker "Tootsie" Bennett.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m.. on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Virgil Woodie officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
