He graduated from Bishop Luers High School with the Class of '67 and attended IPFW before joining the US Marine Corps, where he served his country proudly and with distinction during the Vietnam Conflict. He later completed his education at Eastern New Mexico University. Al was interested in Boxing; having won several bouts in high school, he pursued his interest while in the Marines where he won several championship bouts. He also was an accomplished amateur photographer, at one point having one of his local baseball photos make the cover of Sports Illustrated.
Service arrangements are pending at Divine Mercy Funeral Home, 3500 Lake Ave. He will be laid to rest in Catholic Cemetery with military honors.
