Johnny Ray Gwin, 70, of Adger, went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2023. Johnny retired from the City of Birmingham Fire and Rescue where he served on the Hazardous Response Unit and was Apparatus Operator. He was respected at the highest level by other firefighters for his dedication, bravery, and service. He was a master brick mason, also highly respected in his field. He recently became a member of Parkway Baptist Church.

Johnny was preceded in death by his dad Johnie T. Gwin. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Sherry Gwin; daughters Jonica Gwin Howard (Chris Howard), and Jennifer Gwin Prier (Chris Prier); grandchildren Owen, Oliver, Lanie Cate, Olsen, Sam, Lauren, Ellis, Lydia, and Charlie; mother Nolia Gwin; sisters Brenda Garner and Cindy Wyatt (Tommy Wyatt); niece Michelle Chapman (Tom Chapman); nephews Matthew Wyatt (Carla Wyatt) and Jacob Wyatt (Hannah Wyatt); and their families.

The visitation will from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Parkway Baptist Church, 22767 Bucksville Road, McCalla, AL 35111. The funeral service will be at 2:00 PM at the Church. Burial will follow at Prudes Creek Cemetery (17240 Franklin Road Brookwood, AL).
