MRS. EMMA V. CLARKE

EMMA VICTORIA RIGGS was born in Luzerne county, Pennsylvania, January 10, 1861, and departed this life into the Great Beyond June 22, 1924 aged 61 years, 5 months and 12 days.

She accepted her Savior in early life and united with the Methodist church, and has been a follower of the Master since that time. On October 13, 1879 she was united in marriage to William M. Clarke and she with her husband came to Kansas locating on the farm where they lived the remaining days of their lives. To this union eight children were born. Three of this number and the father preceded the mother in death – Hattie J. in 1888, the father on May 11, 1916, Ella F. in November, 1918 and Mary E. in February, 1920.

After coming to Kansas Mr. and Mrs. Clark united with the Christian church at Little River and were members of this congregation at the time of their death.

Mrs. Clarke was also a charter member of the Rebekah Lodge in Little River. She had a stroke of paralysis about ten years ago, and has been in poor health since that time. Her last illness began last October and continued until her death. All that loving hands and medical aid could do was done that she might regain her health, but to no avail.

Those left to mourn their loss are the two daughters – Jessie M. and Grace F., and the three sons, George A., Ira D., and William L.; twelve grandchildren and many friends.

Funeral services were conducted in the Christian church at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon by the pastor, Rev. J. E. Parks, assisted by Rev. C. J. Saunders, and the body was laid to rest in Bean cemetery.
