David J. Bardelmeier, age 85, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away at 10:20 am on December 21, 2022, at Stillwater Senior Living in Edwardsville. David was born on March 21, 1937, in Granite City, IL, the son of the late John and Tillie (Ohm) Bardelmeier. David married Carol (Baggs) Bardelmeier on August 8, 1959, in Metamora, IL. Besides his wife of 63 years, David is survived by two sons, Stu Bardelmeier, of Edwardsville, IL, and Steve Bardelmeier and his wife, Laura Bardelmeier, of Webster Groves, MO; four grandchildren, Blair Bardelmeier, of Reno, NV, Grant Bardelmeier and his wife, Vanessa Bardelmeier, of Edwardsville, IL, Marie Bardelmeier, of Indianapolis, IN, and Julie Bardelmeier, of Webster Groves, MO; and great grandchild, Breyer Bardelmeier, of Edwardsville, IL. Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly Bennett; and a brother, Joyce Bardelmeier.
David retired from Fabick Power Systems where he was a customer service manager. He also owned and operated Edwardsville Motor Service company with his brother, Joyce, before its closing in 1974. David was a past president of Edwardsville Jaycees and Eden Church Council, served on the YMCA Board, Chamber of Commerce Board, and City of Edwardsville Parks & Rec. and Zoning Board. He served in U.S. Army Reserves from 1959 -1965.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 10 to 11 am at Eden Church, 903 N. 2nd St., Edwardsville, IL 62025. A funeral service will follow at 11 am with Rev. John Roberts officiating. Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to Eden Church.
