Donald Eugene Blaze, 94, of La Porte, passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at Brickyard Healthcare-Terrace Care Center.

Don was born in La Porte, IN, on September 6, 1929, to Albert and Alice (Lang) Blaze.

On August 1, 1952, in La Porte, IN, he married Joanne Huba who preceded him in death on August 26, 2008. Don is survived by his niece, Marsha Blaze of Three Oaks, MI and beloved friends, Betty Hockney, Norman Weaver, and Kirk (Jeanine) Hockney. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brother, Lawrence Blaze; sister-in-law, LuAn Blaze; nephew, Michael Blaze, and special friend Gerri Fisher.

He proudly served in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1954.

For many years, Don worked in the automotive industry. He was a member of the American Legion Hamon Gray Post 83. Don loved working in his garden and flowerbeds, where he found great peace and joy. He also enjoyed hunting birds and small animals, as well as fishing.

He will be fondly remembered for his great smile, humorous wit, fun-loving disposition, and strong handshake.

Cremation has taken place with Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, La Porte.

A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Cutler Funeral Home and Cremation Center.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service with Military Honors will follow at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at the funeral home. Inurnment at Pine Lake Cemetery will follow the service.
