Lawrence "Larry" Marchetti, age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 23, 2023, surrounded by his loving family in the comfort of his own home. Larry was born on February 6, 1931, the son of the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Deakin) Marchetti.
Larry was the dedicated husband of 69 years to Alice Mae (Young) Marchetti; the loving father of William Michael (Kathi) Marchetti and Lawrence Daniel (Lisa) Marchetti; cherished grandfather of Tiffany, Brittny, Eli, Klorissa, and Mason; and the proud great grandfather to a multitude of great-grandchildren. Larry also leaves his brothers, Robert, Richard and Dave Marchetti, and many nieces and nephews. Larry was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Kim.
After high school, Larry served an apprenticeship as a bricklayer. He enjoyed a long career as a brick and block layer for thirty years before deciding he wanted a change of pace and went to work as a warehouseman. He married the love of his life, Alice in 1954, and made his home alongside her.
Larry loved spending time with his family and enjoyed cars. In 1963, with Alice's permission, he went out and bought his boat, The Battle Axe. Several years later, he bought a rustic cottage at the Youghiogheny Lake Reservoir where he enjoyed time with family and friends.
Larry was kindhearted and always willing to lend a hand to those who needed one. He will be remembered as a loving, generous, selfless and smart man who touched the lives of those he knew.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for visitation on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15236. A service will be held in the chapel at the funeral home on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 10:00 am. Burial will be held privately.
