Mr. William Rickey Bates, age 75, of Tallapoosa, GA, passed away December 30, 2023.

He was born May 30, 1948, in Tallapoosa to the late Norman and Leola Traylor Bates.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Wesley Robert Bates; and two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kaye and Bobby Campbell and Judy Parker.

Rickey loved to dance. He even appeared on the show "Club Dance" back in the day. He loved deer hunting, fishing, golfing and was a huge Alabama football fan. If antiquing was a career, he would have been the best. He could build anything, making beautiful wood furniture pieces for his family to treasure forever. He was a member of Concord Baptist Church. Roll Tide Rickey!

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Bates, of Tallapoosa; a daughter-in-law, Angel Bates of Newnan; two grandchildren, Carlie and Levi Bates, both of Bowdon and Madison and Ava Brooke Stickland, both of Newnan; and a brother-in-law, David Parker, of Buchanan.

The celebration of Life for Rickey Bates will be held Thursday, January 4, 2024, 2:00PM from Miller Funeral Home Dogwood Chapel with Rev. Michael Casey officiating. Those in attendance will be given the opportunity to share stories and memories of Rickey as well.

His family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.

Miller Funeral Home (Tallapoosa , GA) in charge of the arrangements.
