Leota was born June 13, 1931 in Percy, Iowa to Joseph and Vera (Sandy) Hoover.
Leota was a 1949 Ava High School graduate.
On February 5, 1950, Leota and Jim Aborn were united in marriage at Ava Highway Church of the Nazarene by Pastor Durham and to this union they were blessed with five children.
Leota was a house wife and a very loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading, playing scrabble and skip-bo. Later in life she learned to crochet.
Leota was a Christian and an active long time member since 1946 of the Ava Highway Church of the Nazarene. She had played the organ and sang in the choir. She was always in church when the doors were opened and wanted all her family with her. She loved the Lord and it showed!
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, David and Carl Hoover, her husband, Jim in 2020; one son, John; a granddaughter, Shawna Bair France; a son-in-law, David Morrison; and a great grandson, Owen Dobbs.
Leota is survived by four children and their spouses, Lee & Marsha Aborn, Nancy & Don Bair, Patsy and Walter Thorne, and Kenneth & Carla Aborn; seven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Paxton, Mary Fisher and Elaine Hanson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services for Leota will be Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10:30 A.M. at the Ava Highway Church of the Nazarene, Rt. 2, Box 774, Ava, MO with burial following in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service at 9:30 A.M. in the church.Officiating will be Pastor Brian Letsinger.
