David was son of Anne (Leggett) Berry, born about 1790 in SC, and William John Berry, born 1798 in NC.
David Berry owned a large farm on the Noose River, North Carolina. He left his farm in his brother Steven's care. They came to Jackson County, Mississippi just before the 1850 census was taken, living with Sara's parents. His plan was to go back to N.C. but he never did. Both are buried at the old place in Forks of Red and Black Creeks. They married in North Carolina where the oldest were born.
