Professional Footballer. He played for Croatian and German teams during the 1960s and 1970s. He was born in Split, Croatia, Yugoslavia, now Serbia and Montenegro, on August 31, 1951. He played the position of a defender and a midfielder for the football clubs Hajduk Split of Split, Croatia, Yugoslavia, now Serbia and Montenegro, from 1969 to 1979, and Schalke 04 of Schalke, District of Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, from 1979 to 1980. He initially made his professional football debut playing for Yugoslavia from 1977 to 1978. He appeared in a World Cup qualification match away against Romania and earned a total of five caps. He lastly played one more international against Italy in May 1978. During his senior career, he played with Hajduk Split earning a total of 207 appearances and 6 league goals, and with Schalke 04 he earned a total of 9 appearances with 2 league goals. His international career only saw him earn the 5 caps but no league goals while playing with Yugoslavia. He played in the Yugoslav First League from 1970 to 1971, 1973 to 1974, 1974 to 1975, and 1978 to 1979, and in the Yugoslav Cup from 1971 to 1972, 1972 to 1973, 1973 to 1974, 1975 to 1976, and from 1976 to 1977. His total appearances were 216, and 8 league appearances. He retired from playing professional football in 1978. He is most remembered as the golden reserve of Split Hajduk and the most trophy-winning player of that team in history. He passed away suddenly on January 1, 2024, at the age of 72.
