Mary Krueger, 92, Stanley, formerly of Coulee and Kenmare, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023 at a Stanley nursing home.
Mary was born on June 9, 1931 in Morris, MN to Irwin and Margaret (Clark) Sax. She attended Rendville Township School District #39 for 8 years and graduated from Morris High School in 1949.
Mary was united in marriage to Charles Krueger in 1950 in Morris. They farmed in the Morris area for 8 years before moving to a farm near Coulee, ND in 1958. Mary and Charles became members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in rural Coulee, where Mary was the secretary and treasurer for many years and while also teaching Sunday School, Bible School, and holding many offices in the Ladies Aid.
Mary loved helping on the family farm and taking care of her family. After Charles passed in 1993, Mary continued to live at the farm and would spend the winter months at either Elko, NV or Northgate, ND to be closer to family. She moved into Kenmare in 2006, but still spent a lot of time at the farm.
Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, bookkeeping, square dancing, and any type of games. She was secretary and treasurer of the Kenmare Rural Fire Department for 25 years. After Mary moved to Kenmare, she spent many afternoons at the Kenmare Senior Center playing games. She would eventually became their secretary and later president.
Mary is survived by her children, Leslie (Laurie) Krueger, David (Chris) Krueger, Rosemary (Lefty) Schweyen, and Myron Krueger (Marian Spotted Bear); 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Gayle Hoffman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; nine siblings; and one grandson, Jamie Leppell.
