Clemens "Cheech" Joseph Rocchio of New Cumberland, WV, passed away February 2, 2024, at Golden Oaks in Follansbee, WV. He was born September 28, 1933, in Logrow, WV, the son of the late Harry Rocchio Roach and Gertrude Anna (Wagner) Ankrom.


Cheech was a 1951 graduate of Follansbee High School, where he was a member of the Blue Wave Football Team and ran track. He was also an active softball pitcher throughout his youth and adult years and enjoyed assisting coaching Little League teams.


He was a U.S. Army Veteran, retired from Weirton Steel Corp as a Pipe Fitter and was a member of the Weirton Steel 25 Year Club.


In addition to his parents, Cheech was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Rocchio, brothers, Harry "Coup" Rocchio, Alfred "Tate" Rocchio and infant sister, Angelina Rocchio.


Cheech is survived by his wife of 67 years, Frances Marie; children, Peggy (Alan) Lee, Joseph Rocchio, Michael Rocchio, Teresa (Tim) Rosiak and Christopher Rocchio; grandchildren, Shawn (Jessica) Edgell, Joshua (Crystal) Rocchio, April (Mike) Simpson, Gabriel Rocchio, Michelle Rocchio, Nicholas (Adele) Lee, Kara Thomas, Devon Rocchio and Bobbie LeeAnn Rocchio Locke; several great-grandchildren; his sister, Barbara (Harold) Huggins and many nieces and nephews.


The family would like to express a special thank you to Sanjay Gupta, M.D. and staff, the 6th & 8th floor staff at Weirton Medical Center and Golden Oaks, for their continuous care and compassion shown to Cheech.


Family and friends visitation and funeral service Monday, February 5, 2024, 11am-1pm at Turley Funeral Home, New Cumberland, WV.


Committal service, Monday, 1pm, New Cumberland Cemetery Chapel. Pastor Craig Greathouse will officiate. Interment to follow.
