Velma G. Singleton
Died: March 13, 2020 in Sycamore, IL
Velma G. Singleton, 91, of Sycamore, IL. passed away peacefully at her home on the 13th of March, 2020.
Velma worked as a secretary at the "Lung Clinic" at the DeKalb County Health Department. She served as Co-President of the Sycamore United Methodist Women for a time and was a Stephen Minister there for many years. She was a people lover, an animal lover and music and family were so important to her.
She was born March 10, 1929 in Neilsville, WI., the oldest daughter of John Vance and Jessie (Bryan) McMillan. She married Marvin E. Singleton on August 16, 1947.
Velma is survived by her grandchildren Aaron (Erica), Bryan, Angela (Tony); her son-in-law Martin; her siblings Nora, David, Carol and Larry, and her great grandchildren Morgan, Devyn, Riley, Cole, Luke and Addison.
Preceding her in death are her husband Marvin, her children Darlene and David, and her siblings Virgil, Jane, George, Walter and MaryJo.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kristen Mock, the staff at Kishwaukee Northwestern Hospital, Visiting Angels and JourneyCare Hospice for their compassionate care of our grandmother.
Her memorial service will be on Saturday, September 25th at 11:00 AM at the Sycamore United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson Ave, Sycamore, IL. A visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the Church.
Arrangements were completed by the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory in Sycamore.
