Glenda June Hobgood, 81, of Wolfforth, Texas passed away January 3, 2024.
June was born in Lubbock, Texas on March 24, 1942. She spent most of her school years at Frenship but moved her senior year and graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock in 1960. She married Darrell Hobgood on October 19, 1961, in Wolfforth, Texas. The couple moved back to the Wolfforth area in August of 1972 after living several years in the Dallas area and Oklahoma.
June worked at Holts clothing store, Southwestern Bell, Buster's Gin, but her main career was helping her husband Darrell farm. June was acknowledged as the Wolfforth Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture Woman of the Year in 1991. June was also a member of the Wolfforth First Baptist Church. She had a passion for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, watching the Hallmark Channel, gardening, shopping, and farming cotton. She enjoyed traveling and spending time in Ruidoso, New Mexico, but most of all she loved spending time with family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Darrell, son Deon, and parents Glenn and Lola.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters Kimberly Boaz & husband Rocky of Wolfforth; Shannon Warren of Littlefield; grandchildren, Ashley Herrera and husband Larry of Lubbock; Kaley Fluitt and husband Tyler of Nashville, TN; Chelsea Boaz of Lubbock; Peyton Warren of Lubbock; Logan Warren of Canyon; two great granddaughters Avery and Kinsley Herrera of Lubbock; brother Kent Richardson of Lubbock; sister Patricia Johnson and husband Bill of Kingwood; brother Leroy Richardson of Lubbock.
The visitation will be held, Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home.
Her life will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church of Wolfforth with interment to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park.
