Mary Kathryn "Kate" Coston, age 91, of Elwood, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 5, 2024, at her residence following an extended illness. She was born in Arthur, IL, on December 24, 1932, to the late Albert and Mildred (Earhart) Ashwill.
On August 14, 1968, she married Richard C. Coston and they shared 49 years of marriage together before he passed away on Apr. 8, 2017.
Kate retired in 1985, from Delco Remy after 32 years of service and was a member of the UAW #662. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, fishing, camping, and being outdoors with wildlife. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grand and great-grandchildren. All will sadly miss her.
Kate is survived by four loving daughters, Deborah Frazier, Virginia "Ginger" Wilson, Michelle "Mickie" Wilson and Shari Coston all of Elwood, IN; son, Phillip (Margaret) Dean of Sun City, FL; grandchildren, Ginger's children: James Pratt, Kyle Foor, Kendra Foor, Richie Foor; Mickie's children: Michael Jackson and Brandon Savage; Shari's children: Curtis Coston-Gross, Mary Gross, Rachael Gross, Jonathan Gross and Christian Coston; Phillip's children: Jennifer Ramirez, Jeffrey Dean and Joshua Dean; step-son Tim's children: Timothy Coston, Jr. and Sasha Ward; great-grandchildren, Virginia's: Ethan Pratt, Molly Pratt, Kyla Foor, Kaysen Foor, Kynzen Foor, Serenity Knopp, Lakota Votra, Jeremiah Mullins, Farrah Mullins, Grayson Foor and Braxton Goss; Mickie's: Owen Jackson, Madison Jackson, McKenzie Jackson, Lucas Jackson, Grant Savage, Aaralyn Savage and Zion Savage; Shari's: Charolette Gross, Emma Sowers, Chance Sowers and Roman Gross; Phil's: Gabriella Ramirez, Matteo Ramirez, Grayson Dean, Crawford Dean, Gabriel Dean and Ezekiel Dean; Tim's: Joyce Coston, Jack Coston and Annabell Coston; brother-in-law, Max (Sharon) Coston of Elwood, IN; nephews, Rick Aldridge of Rogers, Ak, and Brian Aldridge of Fishers, IN.
Along with her parents and husband Kate was preceded in death by her sister, Alberta Aldridge; brother-in-law, Jesse Aldridge; step-son, Tim Coston; grandchildren, Robert "Bobby" Dean, Lori Beeman, Rodney Beeman and Matthew Griffey; great-grandchildren, Abigale Jackson; and a nephew, Eddie Joe Aldridge.
Visitation will be Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
The funeral service celebrating Kate's life will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, with Pastor Scott Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
