Corporal 265247 Royal Scots Fusiliers. Attested on 21 June 1916 and disembodied on 23 March 1919. Son of Robert and Janet Birrell and married to Ethel Maud Wiltshire, he was a linen draper of Fourthview, Davidson's Mains. Died at home from intestinal catarrh and general anascara, age 44.

Accepted for commemoration as a casualty of war on 27 April 2023, following research by In From the Cold Project.
