Sidney was engaged to marry Mary Ethel "Boots" Alford in 1940, but broke off the engagement "when he was drafted." Records indicate that he enlisted. Boots Alford bore him a daughter in December 1940.
Sidney married Ruth O'Steen in May 1941. They had one child, Paulette. Sidney lived in the Lakeland area until sometime between 1945 and 1950, when he, his first wife Ruth and daughter Paulette are recorded with his parents in Tallahassee in the 1950 Federal Census.
He married Zelma Nannette Tweady in 1960. They had two daughters. Finally, he married Elaine Marie Morris in 1986. He appears to have lived in the Tampa area from the mid-1950's until his death in 1988.
Sidney, like his three Blanchard brothers, served in WW II and was discharged as a "Buck" Sergeant, as E-5 Army Sergeants were often referred to.
Sidney's Florida birth certificate lists Leon Blanchard and Esther Campbell as his parents, but genetic genealogy done in 2021 revealed that his biological father was actually Hugh LeRoy Lambert (whose Findagrave memorial is attached to Sidney below). It is unknown whether Sidney or his parents knew the truth.
