Mr. Black was a retired vice-president of Norton Brothers Co., a men's sportswear firm in Los Angeles. He had lived in Vista seven years, coming from the Los Angeles area where he had lived 50 years.
Mr. Black was born Sept. 5, 1896 in Denver, Colo. He served in the Army in World War I. He was a member of Glendale Masonic Lodge 544, F&AM, for more than half a century; a 45-year member of the Scottish Rite bodies and of Al Malika Shrine, both of Los Angeles, and was a member of Vista's Plus-60 Club.
Mr. Black is survived by two sons, Arthur K. Black of La Canada and Lt. Col. John R. Black of Ft. Bragg, N.C., and seven grandchildren.
