Iris Louise Addison was born on November, 8, 1929 in the San Antonio Prairie community in

Burleson County, Texas to A.F. Lunsford and Lillian McWilliams Lunsford. She was one of ten

children, five boys and five girls.

While she was in school, she participated in many activities including, school plays and the first

high school annual staff where she was elected by her peers "Most Beautiful" for the first ever

Caldwell High School Yearbook.

Those who knew Louise loved her great sense of humor, her generosity, and above all, her

loyalty to her friends. "Once a friend, always a friend," was her motto.

After high school graduation, Louise worked at Moore's Dry Goods in Caldwell until her

marriage to John Teague Addison Jr. on July 28, I950 and was an Air Force wife for nearly

twenty years. In that time they were stationed at Bergstrom AFB in Austin, Texas, Walker AFB

in Roswell, New Mexico, and Castle AFB in Merced, California. During this time they had two

children, John Bruce Addison of Colorado City, TX, and Dennis Paul Addison who died shortly

after birth.

Louise worked at the Corpus Christi, Texas Credit Bureau from 1970 until 1975 after she and John

divorced in 1970. She then moved to Caldwell, Texas, where she worked at the Burleson County

Tax Office for almost twenty years in the Voter Registration Department until her retirement in

1993.

Her pastime activities included sending cards and letters to friends and loved ones for

encouragement and celebrations, watching the Astros and the Cowboys every game, and

discussing politics.

She became a Christian at the age of 15 and attended the Church of Christ until her health

prevented her from attending regularly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, A.F. and Lillian Lunsford, her infant son Dennis Paul

Addison, 9 siblings—Norman Lunsford, Randolph Lunsford, Leroy Lunsford, Burns Lunsford,

Delbert Lunsford, Alsie Lunsford Lucas, Doris Lunsford Varner, Dorothy Lunsford Barnett, Alene

Lunsford Howard, three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and three nephews.

She is survived by Dr. John Bruce Addison (Deborah) of Colorado City, Texas, two grandchildren—

John Clayton Addison and Tracy Lynn Broaddus (Jeff), three great grandchildren—Ivory Michell

Gomez, Lyla Jade Gomez, and Violet Rai Gomez, and a friend whom she loved like a daughter,

Angie Massenburg.

Memorials in her honor can be sent to local food banks.
