Pa. Taiwo Akinremi Abodunde of Oakdale, passed away December 21, 2023.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S., Cottage Grove, MN. The funeral service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Christ Church International, 3015 13th Avenue S., Minneapolis, MN with visitation starting at 9:00 am until the time of service. The burial will take place at Halcyon Cemetery.

Pa. Taiwo Akinremi Abodunde was born in Ibadan, Oyo State, the twin son of Emmanuel Atoyebi Abodunde and Dorcas Olaore Abodunde (Nee Aiyepola). He and his twin brother were initially raised in Ibadan following the loss of their mother. They were reunited with their maternal Uncle, Pa. Olukayode Aiyepola while they were in secondary school at about 12 years old.

After attending Renascent High School (a private co-educational secondary school) situated at Aremo/Agugu area in Ibadan metropolitan, he passed the West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE) with flying colors in 1968 especially excelling in his love for Mathematics and Bookkeeping.

In 1969, he moved to Lagos for employment. He was engaged by a Textile Company named Teksons for many years as an accounting clerk. As an ambitious young man yearning for advancement, he resigned from Teksons company for further studies in the UK.

He was admitted into Southwest London College at Streatham for an Accountancy degree (now University of West London) in 1975. He graduated in 1978 and worked briefly with Shell UK as a trainee accountant before heading home in 1979.

He was engaged by Columbia Hospital Limited to set up its accounting procedures for the company as its pioneer accountant. This he did flawlessly. He met his heartthrob, Abosede Abodunde (nee Adebanjo) the same year and got married in 1980. In mid 1990, he resigned from Columbia Hospital and migrated to North America with his family for better opportunities.

Pa. Abodunde spent the rest of his career in the healthcare field caring for the aging and marginalized. Their home was a haven to many college students from Nigeria as they transitioned to living in the US. He was engaged in his community; giving to but not limited to his favorites - St Jude's Hospital and law enforcement. He loves photography and clocks around every corner of the house. He was a vibrant member of the Light of the Morning Star Band, C&S Church Movement Ayo ni O! Surulere, Lagos. We miss him and will always miss his quiet spirit and unfailing love for God and his family.

Pa. Taiwo Akinremi Abodunde died on Thursday December 21st, 2023, in Maplewood, Minnesota at the age of 73 after a brief illness. His legacy will continue to bring beauty and love to those whom he left behind. Pa. Abodunde is survived by his wife Abosede Abodunde, his daughter Adetola and sons Akinfemi, Akinsola, Abiola, (Bamidele Jr. and Moyosore Adetifa), His twin brother Pa.Timothy Kehinde Akinlolu Abodunde, daughters-in-law Dr. Abiola and Brittaney and grandchildren Teniola, Alannah,Toluwanimi, Oluwafemi, Nehemiah, Ooreofeoluwa & Abisolaoluwa; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
