Mary Ann Dzingle, 85, of Elba, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, at CHI Health St. Elizabeth in Lincoln.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elba. The Rev. Vince Parsons will celebrate the Mass and be assisted by Deacon Neil Baquet.

Burial will be in the parish cemetery in Elba.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with a 7 p.m. parish rosary.

Mary Ann was born on Feb. 12, 1938, on a farm north of Ashton, the daughter of Tony and Teckla (Shuda) Garvel.

She grew up on the family farm and attended Howard County Rural School and was a 1957 graduate of Elba High School.

She was united in marriage to Fred L. Dzingle on Sept. 14, 1957, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. The couple first farmed north of Ashton and in 1960, they moved to a farm east of Dannevirke. Fred died Feb. 1, 2020 and she continued to live on the farm the rest of her life.

Over the years, Mary Ann worked at Rose Lane Home in Loup City, worked along side Fred on the farm and as a home care & companion in the area, assisting the elderly in their homes for a number of years.

She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church where she had served on the parish council and was involved with the Council of Catholic Women.

She enjoyed sewing clothes for herself and her family, crocheting, puzzle books, BINGO and watching her soap operas.

She is survived by her children and spouses, Gary and Donna Dzingle of Elba, Sandra and Mark Headrick of Lincoln, Linda Cooper and John Boruch of Duncan and Paul and Wendy Dzingle of Elba; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Fred, she was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Harry Wroblewski; granddaughter, April Marie Dzingle; grand son-in-law, A.J. Sabin; and two brothers, James Garvel and Stanley Garvel.
