Mr. Gerald Alton Carey, 80, of Royston, GA passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2023, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, GA.
Mr. Carey was born in Royston, GA on September 22, 1943, son of the late Cleo Carey and the late Allene Hickman Carey. He was the owner of Consolidated Fire Protection, an entrepreneur, and owner of the Sandbar Broad River.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carlton Carey; and sisters, Elizabeth Carey and Joyce Ginn.
Survivors include his wife, Debra Moon Carey; sons, Todd Carey (Charity) of Royston, GA and Chad Carey (Mike) of Tucson, AZ; daughter, Natalie Sanford (Nathan) of Royston, GA; grandchildren, Carey Drake (Josh Hamburg), Cameron Carey, C. J. Phillips (Bronwyn), and Hazel Carey; great-grandson, Nicodemus Phillips; and beloved pet, Smokey.
Funeral services for Mr. Carey will be held in the Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2023, with Rev. Clay Huff and Dr. Tony Moon officiating. Interment will follow in the Franklin Memorial Gardens- South in Royston.
The family will receive friends at Pruitt Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. During other times the family will be at the home.
Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital at P.O. Box 947765 Atlanta, GA 30394.
