Santiago Abejo Abaigar (April 15, 1920 – April 18, 2017)

Santiago ("Tatay," "Santi," or "Agoy") was born to Leon & Teresa Abejo Abaigar in Calbiga, Samar Philippines. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ambrosio, Irene, Ambrosia, Simeon, Natividad, Juan, Jesus, and his twin brother Panfilo. In 1953, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Anicia Raymundo. As a young widower he found the second love of his life, his wife of 60 years, Honorata Millare Abaigar (d. in 2015)

As a member of the Filipino Army, Santiago served as part of the USAFFE (United States Army Forces in the Far East) during World War II. Santiago was a survivor of the Bataan Death March and a recipient of various medals, including the Bronze Star Medal. Following the War, he served as a presidential guard in the Malacañan Palace, under the administrations of President Carlos P. Garcia and President Elpidio Quirino. After he retired, Santiago enjoyed serving as the caretaker for Anicia's family mango farm. He later decided to migrate to the United States with the hope of bringing his family in the future.

Santiago moved to the United States in 1981 to live with his eldest daughter, Perla and her family. His wife, Honorata arrived in the United States in 1990. His life dream was fulfilled fourteen years later, as he saw his children and their families begin to come to the United States after he persistently petitioned the U.S. Embassy for the approval of their immigration from the Philippines.

Sanitago is preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Perla Abaigar Millare and Perla's husband, Roland Piniones Millare. He is also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Michelle Pearl Millare. Santiago's life will be cherished and remembered by his children Eva (married to Boy Alvarez), Ramoncito (married to Lorna Malazarte), Inday (married to Del Vallesteros), Cora (married to Ramon Verdadero), Ato (married to Loida San Diego) and Arnold (married to Nini San Diego), his honorary children Jun and Norma Tamayo, 15 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
