Charles Edward "Bubba" DeFrance was born in Forrest City, AR on August 30, 1951, in Forrest City, AR to the late Henry and Gertrude Brazile DeFrance. He was the baby of ten children. Charles married Eva Banks DeFrance on December 15, 1973, and to this union two children were born.

Charles accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age and became a member of Taylor Chapel CME Church and as he got older, he joined Nineveh Temple COGIC under the leadership of the late Overseer Dr. Howard Smith, Sr. As the years progressed Nineveh Temple COGIC appointed Elder Oliver Smith as their leader, and the church was at a later time renamed Victory Temple COGIC. During his tenure at Nineveh and Victory Temple he served as a faithful member until his health begin to fail him. He served as an active member of the local and district Choir where his lead songs were "It's Almost Midnight" and "Feed My Sheep". He served as a member of the Trustee Board, President, District Youth Department, and YPWW Teacher. He was a part of the Maintenance Department where he also did Landscaping and Construction as needed for the church.

Charles graduated from Lincoln High School in 1969 and attended Crowley's Ridge Technical College.

Charles was employed at Sanyo Manufacturing Corporation for many years. After working at Sanyo he was the owner and operator of DeFrance Landscaping and Construction where he employed many family and friends and for most of them it was their first place of employment. He was a gifted landscaper and carpenter that built many things (picnic tables, cabinets, swing sets, and even pulpit stands) all built with his hands.

Charles was a distinguished gentleman in his own right. He knew the word from front to back. He was fun, loving, caring, and would give you his last. He loved to talk and one of his famous sayings was "If I'm talking and you talking who listening."

Charles departed this life on December 27, 2022 at St Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro, AR to live eternally with his heavenly Father.
