Gerald F. Abb, 80, of Janesville, passed away at Mercy Hospital and Trauma Center on January 23, 2024. He was born in Janesville on August 13, 1943; the son of Ralph and Phyllis (Perry) Abb. Jerry married his wife on September 4, 1965 and they were together for 32 years. They raised two children and also hosted a German foreign exchange student who became a lifelong friend to Jerry. Jerry was a graduate of Craig High School. He attended Milton College and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, with a Bachelor and Master's degree in Education and Educational Administration. He also served in the Wisconsin National Guard. He was employed by the School District of Janesville as a classroom teacher, Learning Support Teacher and Principal at Jackson Elementary School in Janesville. He was a member of the Wisconsin Education Association and served as President of the Janesville Education Association. He also was a member of the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators. Jerry loved to travel and made several trips to reunite with friends in Germany. After retirement, he traveled throughout the United States. He enjoyed trips to Minocqua and other destinations with family and friends. Dogs were a big part of his enjoyment of life and he owned everything from a little Pekinese to a huge Great Dane. Jerry was a caring and giving person and was thoughtful and generous to his family and friends. He loved teaching and had a special and unique relationship with his students. He not only impacted the lives of many students but was well regarded by all who knew him. He loved celebrations and made holidays and birthdays special for everyone. He lit up the room with his kindness and gentle humor.

A private committal service will be held at Bethel Cemetery on a later date.
