"DEATH OF MISS LAMAR. - We grieve to learn from the Macon (Ga.) Messenger, that Miss Rebecca Ann Lamar, the only child of Gen. Lamar, ex-President Texas, died on the 29th ult. at that place. She was in her sixteenth year. From an obituary in the Messenger we make a brief extract: -
What a heart-rending blow her death is to a wide circle of kindred and friends no pen can tell! None knew her but to love her. The virtues and charms that belong to her sex and age clustered upon her, and gave assurance of a womanhood to which her relations looked forward with affectionate pride and joy. But ere her youthful education was complete - ere she had attained the stage of life at which to enter the earthly society around her - heaven claimed her as its own."
