Susie Lyn Tucker was born in Harrisonville, Mo., on December 12, 1959, to Wilfred Roger Tucker and Elizabeth Morrow Tucker, and 4 siblings: Tommy Gene, Robert Keith, Jimmy Neil, and Terry Beth. Susie attended Hosea Elementary School and Spring Garden Middle School, both in St. Joseph, Mo. She graduated from West Platte High School in Weston, Mo., in 1978. She married Steven Allen Gibson on Nov. 27, 1981. Steve and Susie raised their children in Weston: Scott Andrew, Samuel Lee and Stacy Elizabeth. Steve preceded her in death in February of 2009. Susie was a member of the Weston Christian Church, where she and Steve were married by her father, the minister of Weston Christian Church until 1992. Susie embraced the battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer and fought valiantly since 2004. She has been a beacon of love and hope for countless others. For the past year, Susie has lived her life, "LIVE" on Facebook. She touched many lives through this network, helping many to find peace and encouragement to fight. She studied the disease as it enveloped her body and educated herself and many others. Her Daily Quotes of encouragement, and posts of educational material, have been an inspiration to many who do not know her personally, and a confirmation to her family and friends of her faith and her determination to live. Her lovely smile and sharing nature will forever be an inspiration to all of us who were touched by her light. She passed peacefully at 7 a.m. on January 22, 2011, in North Kansas City Hospital Hospice. She is survived by her 3 children, 2 brothers and her sister. Memorial Services to be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at Weston Christian Church, Weston. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests a donation be made to the Susie Lyn Tucker Memorial Fund.
