Mr. William Gerald Smith, Jr., 63, passed on Sunday, January 21, 2024 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
Born April 10, 1960 in Newark, NJ, he was the son of Norma Jean Layton Staley and the late William Gerald Smith, Sr.
Educated in the public schools of Rowan County, he was a 1978 graduate of Statesville High School. Mr. Smith was last employed with Food Lion Warehouse as a mechanic.
Mr. Smith was a Veteran of the United States Army and attended Jerusalem Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Taailyah S. Hasan of Salisbury; mother, Norma Jean Layton Staley of the home; step father, James Staley; brother, Robert Clodfelter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
