Ron (aka "Big Ron") was retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and the GSI Group. He was a graduate of Pana High School and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Pana. Ron was an avid hunter and a lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed competitive shooting and was a former member of the Taylorville Rifle and Pistol Club. Much of his time was spent enjoying the outdoors, where you could often find him relaxing on the front porch with a cold drink, his loyal lab, Cadence, caring friends & neighbors, and his many feline companions.
He is survived by his children: Dorothy "Dodie" Lees, Christina (David) Dionne & Ronald (Lori) Ambrose, Jr.; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; Sharrie Eilers, close family friend and guardian angel; sister, Andrea Ambrose and sister-in-law, Judy Ambrose. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers: James & Robert Ambrose and nephew, Mike Ambrose.
Private family services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ron's honor may be made to Christian County Animal Control, Taylorville and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
