John Lawrence Wempe, 51, of Pocahontas, Ill., born May 23, 1963, in Breese, Ill., died Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Highland, Ill.
Mr. Wempe was a bus driver for First Student, Edwardsville, Ill. He was a former member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Breese, Ill. He an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed WWE wrestling, jigsaw puzzles, cooking, bon fires, and being with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Joanna, nee Scheveling, Wempe; and a son, Allen Wempe.
Surviving are his fianc‚, Nena Harper of Pocahontas, Ill.; his father, Bernard Wempe of Breese, Ill.; a daughter, Katie (Levi) Nowell of Litchfield, Ill.; a son, Christopher Wempe of Pocahontas, Ill.; four grandchildren, Levi Jr., Abigail, Ryan, and Kelsey; six siblings, Bernadette (Christopher) Bean of Collinsville, Ill., Kathy Wempe of Breese, Ill., Duane (Theresa) Wempe of Breese, Ill., Brian Wempe of Salem, Ill., Deb (Scott) Athmer of Albers, Ill., and Holly (Scott) Arter of Aviston, Ill.; numerous nieces and nephews; and one great-nephew.
