Agnes Belle Mace Bowman passed peacefully on September 3, 2023 at her home in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. She was born in Hawk, North Carolina, on October 21, 1926, to Golda Slick and Charlie Mace. The family moved to Hickory, North Carolina when Agnes was in her teens.

While working at Wallace Five and Dime Store in Hickory, she met Pleaz Bowman in 1944 when he was on a leave from the Marine Corps. They were married on May 25, 1945, and shared 69 years of marriage until he passed in 2014. In 1956, they moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida where she enjoyed being a Publix cashier until she retired. They spent many years at their summer home in Rabun Gap, Georgia, where they adored hosting their family and friends. She enjoyed attending church, traveling, playing cards, scratching lottery tickets, going to garage sales, reading westerns and the National Enquirer, and especially spending time with her family. She was a lifelong Baptist and was the last surviving charter member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Park, Florida.

She was predeceased by her husband, Pleaz Bowman, her parents, one sister, three brothers and her grandson, Shane Bowman.

Agnes is survived by her four children, Janice Verity (Ray) of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; Michael Bowman (Sharon) of Jupiter, Florida, Richard Bowman (Michele) of Jupiter, Florida and Rita Schubert (James) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; her sister, Willie Mae Wall of Hickory, North Carolina and her brother, Jerry Pittman of Stuart, Florida. Her pride and joy were her 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grands. She was loved and will be missed by a large extended family, including many nieces and nephews.

A private funeral was held for the family at Aycock-Riverside Funeral Center on September 8, 2023 followed by burial at Riverside Memorial Park in Tequesta, Florida.
