Carolyn Bee Dunlap, age 84, passed away Monday, February 5, 2024 in Tyler, Texas. She and her twin sister, Marilyn, were born June 21, 1939 in Dallas, Texas. She grew up in Oak Cliff and graduated from Sunset High School in 1957. She attended Baylor University for 1 year, but was a life-long fan of Baylor and we consider her an honorary Alum. She married Hal Tuley in 1960 and they had two daughters, Brenda and Linda. She worked as an Executive Assistant for the University of Texas System. In Austin, she worked for the Chancellor, in Galveston for the Area Health Education Center at UTMB, and in Tyler at UTHCT for the Vice-President of Research.
Carolyn and her family moved to Hideaway Lake in 1977 where she lived the rest of her life, and was blessed with many treasured friends. She was a long-term member of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler where she participated in the choir for many years. She traveled many times with the choir, and even got to go to Italy a few years ago. Later, she became an active member of Hideaway Community Church. Carolyn enjoyed Bible study, square dancing, knitting, running, traveling, gardening, and loved singing in the choir.
Carolyn met John in 1998 while singing in the Green Acres choir. The two got married in 1999, and immediately found many activities they both enjoyed. They enjoyed singing in the choir, square dancing, and traveling together. John and Carolyn really enjoyed living on the lake at Hideaway, had so many good friends to hangout with, and even doing some variety shows with their friends.
Mimi loved her children and grandchildren immensely. She enjoyed spending time with them and attended their activities whenever she could. She was their biggest supporter in all that they did, and prioritized being there for them.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Colvin Fred and Magdalene (Bickerstaff) Bee; husband, John Dunlap; twin sister, Marilyn Chapman; and father of her children, Floyd "Hal" Tuley, Jr.
She is survived by daughters, Brenda Brakebill and husband, Philip, of Allen, Linda Cooper and husband, Jeff, of Tyler; grandchildren, Austin Brakebill and wife, Alexis, of Plano, Emily Brakebill of Dallas and Caitlynn Cooper of Tyler; great-grandson, Wesley Brakebill; along with numerous cousins.
A visitation will be held at from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m Thursday, February 8, 2024 and a funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2024 at Caudle-Rutledge-Daugherty Funeral Home. A burial will be held at Mt. Sylvan Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Bro. Louis Mizell.
