Leon Dalton Boyd, aged 78, peacefully departed from this world on February 2, 2024, at his home. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Pastor T.J. Helling, will officiate.

Born on April 15, 1945 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Leon, better known as LD, was the son of Leon Carl and Gladys (Duensing) Boyd. He spent his formative years in Tulsa, where he received his education from Edison High School. Following his schooling, LD answered the call to serve his country, serving the United States Air Force. He was stationed at the Randolph AFB, Texas. He was in the US Air Force from Jan. 1965 to Oct. of 1966 until he got a Honorable Discharge to go and take care of his family after the passing of his father.

He met Betty Lucille Barnes in 1977 and got married a year later. They were married 44 years. The couple established their home in Inola, OK in 1979 and they brought Betty's 3 children from Tulsa to enjoy life in the country. He was a gifted mechanic throughout his life. He learned the HVAC trade in his 30's and worked for AAON. He worked there for many years in the main plant until they needed him to start traveling to install their equipment on Walmart stores all over the country. He did this until 1985. In 1985, he started Boyd Heat & Air. Most probably didn't see this side of him, but he thoroughly enjoyed helping people with his gifts in these two industries. He also started Scissor-tail Heat and Air with his son, David Barnes in 2016. He worked in the HVAC field until his death. He was an animal lover and had many dog "best friends" throughout his life. He enjoyed the country lifestyle. He loved mowing and "mechanicin'" anything.

LD is preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Gladys Boyd; his brother, Darrell Boyd; his sister Dorlene Smith; and his sister, Carolyn Stephens.

He is survived by his loving children: Shelley Feemster and husband Otis, of Inola, OK; Clint Barnes, of Inola, OK; Dana Cannon and husband Bo of Memphis, Tenn.; and David Barnes and wife Adrienne, of Tulsa, OK ; and cherished grandchildren: Damontay Gillyard, Dillon Cain, Chris Feemster, Eric Feemster, Josh Feemster, Jack Barnes, Rylee Barnes, Sam Barnes and Garrett Barnes: cherished grandchildren and their families along with numerous other extended family members and dear friends.

Leon Dalton Boyd was the son of Leon Carl Boyd and Gladys Dora Duensing.
