Edward was born in Dublin, Ireland and moved to Norwalk, Connecticut in 1931 and was a grocer with the old Bulter Food Store of South Norwalk.
In 1937, Mr. Colohan opened his own market on Main Avenue, then in 1956 he moved to East Avenue where he and his wife operated Colohan's Market until he retired in 1967. He went back to work for Palmer's Market in Norton from 1968-1978.
Mr. Colohan was active in the community and church affairs for many years . He served as a Civil Defense Warden during World War II, active in the Heart Association, a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Council of 46 Knights of Columbus, the Bishop Finwick Assemby, and the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish since its founding. Mr. Colohan had served as a member of the Parish Council, the Holy Name Society, and had worked for the Diocese Development Fund.
Edward married Margaret Quirke on April 27, 1932 in Greenwich, Connecticut. To this union five children were born, Edward Anthony Colohan (1933), Della Ann Colohan Pratt (1935), Michael J. Colohan (1940), Mary Colohan Cobb (1943), and Eileen Colohan Faulkner (1945).
Eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Thomas Apostle Church with his son Father Edward Anthony Colohan as the Celebrant.
