Todd Allan Whitesides

The Northern Kentucky region is saddened by the loss of long-time researcher and contributor, Todd Allan Whitesides who passed away February 8, 2024. Todd was born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 6, 1969, to Nelson Raymond Crenshaw and Jan Annette Rogers. Todd and his partner of 28 years, Richard Philip Porter, moved to Covington, Kentucky in 1998 and reside in the Historic Licking Riverside neighborhood.

Todd, an avid family historian, began his genealogical journey in 1982. Throughout his early years of researching his family history he, accompanied by his grandmothers, Bonnie Jean (Leiffler) Rogers and Luetta (Deitchman) Crenshaw, visited sites where his ancestors lived and traveled to courthouses and churches in Kentucky and Southern Indiana to research firsthand. Todd was also a knowledgeable Northern Kentucky history researcher; several fellow genealogists credited Todd with often finding that "missing piece" of information that no one else was able to find. Additionally, he was an administrator of Louisville Kentucky's Past, a history-focused social media page with a following of over 48,000 members. Todd spent much time photographing and researching historic cemeteries in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky and was a FindaGrave.com contributor who managed more than 130,000 memorials and fulfilled more than 300 photo requests. Todd also served briefly on the Board of Overseers of Linden Grove Cemetery. Todd was honored to join The National Society of Descendants of Lords of the Maryland Manors and was a member of the Germanna Foundation, Locust Grove, VA.

In addition to his partner, Todd is survived by his mother, Jan Rogers Argubright (Bob), his father, Nelson Crenshaw (Janice), his grandmother, Bonnie Jean Rogers, his sister, Beth Crenshaw Blaylock (Chuck), as well as many aunts, uncles, and extended cousins around the globe, discovered through his passion for research.

Todd will be privately interred at Linden Grove Cemetery in Covington, with a small ceremony for the family at the placement of the headstone. A celebration of Todd's life for friends and colleagues will be scheduled in the coming months. Memorials suggested to benefit the Local History and Genealogy Department of the Kenton County Public Library in Covington, Kentucky.
