Funeral services for L. B. Mullins, 94, of Natchez, who died Monday, Feb. 12, 2024, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2024. Visitation will be before the service from 10 until 11 a.m. at Natchez Church of God where he was a member. Dr. Brian Monehan will officiate. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery in Franklin County under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home.


Mr. Mullins was born Nov. 24, 1929, in Natchez, MS. He is the son of Lee Mullins and Bessie Mae Norris Mullins and grew up in Bunkley outside of Meadville, MS. As a teenager he enjoyed playing baseball with a local team as catcher and left field. He worked with a surveyor in the Homochitto National Forest at a young age and later joined the National Guard in Meadille, MS, His unit was called to active duty during the Korean War. During this time, he married the love of his life, Faye Brooks Mullins on Dec. 26, 1950, and moved his bride to Fort Jackson, South Carolina where their first child, Michael Mullins was born. He served four years in the United States Army and was promoted to Corporal. When returning home, he went to work with the Corp. of Engineers on Tug Boats Mature and Talogie, he working as a truck driver and dozer operator in the oilfield until retirement.


Mr. Mullins was preceded in death by his parents; on Nov 20, 2017 his loving wife of 67 years LaFaye Brooks Mullins; as a young boy he lost a brother, Troy Lee Mullins # 5065643; In 1997, his 2nd born grandson, Kenneth Alan Huff Jr. # 5030260, and in 2017 his son-in-law, Kayne Steven Troutman, Sr. # 179051315, Two Double First Cousins, Henry Mullins # 175790737 and LeRoy Mullins # 173564787.


Survivors include one son Michael Lynn Mullins, and wife, Judy of Ringgold, GA; One daughter, Dani Faye Cowart, and husband, Curtis of Natchez, MS; Brother, Charles Ray Mullins of Natchez, MS; Two granddaughters, Fayla Guedon and husband, Noble of Natchez, MS, and Amanda Poe of Flintstone, GA; One grandson, Matthew Lee Mullins of Ringgold, GA; Five great-grandchildren including, Caroline Guedon, Grayson Guedon, and Madison Mullins. L.B. is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.


Pallbearers include Grayson Guedon, Noble Guedon, Jimmy Dale Edwards, Bobby Moore, Curtis Cowart, Cole Massey
